Urtyn duu (meaning: long-song) is one of the traditional forms of music passed down between generations throughout Mongolian history. It is characterized by a unique singing method and extensive use of ornamentation. This genre is semi-improvisational, with each vocalist transforming the song to their own style. Ms. Erdenetsetseg’s exquisite and eloquent singing method, along with her incredible vocal range, make her Urtyn Duu sublime.
Ms. Erdenetsetseg has also performed internationally numerous times such as at UNESCO’s conference hall in Switzerland, Fuji Rock international music festival in Japan, and at the opening concert for Sergei Bodrov’s film “Mongol” in Washington DC, USA. Her wide repertory includes over 100 pieces.
